HOMEMADE TOILET BOWL CLEANER


Because a clean toilet is the best toilet, read on to dispose of this chore in an economical, environmentally friendly way.   

Simple ingredients you probably already have on hand;
1 cup of baking soda
1 cup of vinegar

Toilet bowl brush
Spray bottle (optional)

The baking soda cleans, deodorizes and scours while the vinegar disinfects, cuts grease, removes odors and some stains.

To truly give this the best clean possible, you need to empty the bowl of the water but this does not mean scooping and dumping - Yuck!  All you need to do is to shut off the water supply line behind the toilet.  To do this, turn it clock-wise until it will not turn any more.  Flush as many times as necessary until no water remains in the bowl and you are ready to scrub.

Next, sprinkle the baking soda all around the bowl and then either spray the vinegar or pour it all around.  If you use a spray bottle you are able to get up under the rim a little better and have more control.  It will bubble up but that's OK.  Let it sit for a while, even overnight if you have the time.  Then scrub with your brush, turn the water back on and flush a couple of times. 

The vinegar and water concoction works well on the outside of the toilet too!  Make up a couple of batches and keep it in a handy spray bottle.  It's uses are really endless!
